The Combudo organisation was founded by MMA pioneer and innovator Lee Hasdell in 2000 the year of the new millenium, after returning from his 6 year MMA career in Japan.

Lee's vision was to create an MMA game that would challenge the mind, body and fighting spirit of the participants in a safe, disciplined and respectful environment.

Lee was the first promoter to stage Japanese MMA-style events in the UK and introduced the Samurai Series by using an all white MMA ring with extra protective safety flooring.

The early UK Samurai MMA promotions featured Japanese fighters like Pride FC and Hero's Kanehara, Deep star Namekawa and Rings fighter Sakata.

Combudo was developed after Lee spent many years staging MMA events in the UK from the 90's right through to today, events like:
